Here's how much snow fell in Colorado

Totals accumulated over the weekend during the season's first big storm, leading to double-digit totals in many areas.

COLORADO, USA — The first snowstorm for the 2023-24 season swept into Colorado over the weekend.

The first snow fell in the Denver area and eastern Colorado plains Saturday and Sunday. The storm started on Friday in the mountains of Colorado west of Denver.

Most people around Denver awoke Saturday to find a dusting to around a quarter- to half-inch of snow. After an overcast morning, the sun peeked out for about an hour, and then the main part of the storm system began moving in.

Snow started up again around 2 p.m. Saturday in Denver and steadily began ramping up with some heavy bands forming around 5 p.m.

Totals accumulated overnight, leading to double-digit totals in many areas. The snow ended around noon Sunday.

The snow was a special gift for Colorado's ski areas. Arapahoe Basin's snow stake showed 11 inches of new snow.
